Ever since HTC announced the long-rumored Mini version of the HTC One, HTC-philes who want a smaller version of the flagship device have been clamoring to get their hands on a Mini. Problem is, only the UK has an official release date so far.
But according to GottaBeMobile, specific release dates for the one-hand HTC device should be coming soon, because the HTC One Mini has passed through the Global Certification Forum at the end of last week. The website says, "this approval means that the HTC One mini is just one step closer to release." Already, it's been known that the Taiwanese handset-maker's more affordable device is headed to the United Kingdom on August 9.
There are indications in the groups certification declaration that the HTC One Mini is ready for several different wireless carriers. The phone will support GSM bands 850 and 1900 MHz which covers compatibility with 3G wireless providers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile (which it has been rumored before to be available for), as well as EDGE class 12 bands. No indication of 4G LTE on the certification sheet, but that seems to be an obvious inevitability.
The HTC One Mini was announced earlier this month, as a 4.3-inch sized display alternative to the 4.7-inch HTC One. It has pared down specs from the One as well, including a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.4GHz assisted by 1GB of RAM. The 4.3-inch screen has a 720p resolution instead of the One's 1080p, and a pixel density of 341 pixels per inch, as opposed to the HTC One's 468 ppi.
However, the devices still has an Ultrapixel camera, Android 4.2.2, HTC Sense 5 and Zoe software, and that aluminum chassis that makes the HTC One feel so good (although edges on the One Mini are plastic to save on costs). And it's likely to cost much less than the HTC One.
