Roger Mayweather, the former trainer of pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., believes Manny Pacquiao will be knocked out by Brandon Rios in November.
In an exclusive interview by Ellie Seckbach of ESNews, Mayweather repeatedly said Pacquiao was too afraid to take the test - an Olympic style of drug testing - and believed he may also get knocked out by Rios five months from now in Macau, China.
Mayweather, dubbed the original Black Mamba during his fighting days, also shared his thoughts about his nephew's upcoming fight with Canelo Alvarez and the strategy they will use fight night.
Floyd is scheduled to fight Alvarez for the WBC middleweight crown on Sept. 14 at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. It will be the second bout of Floyd's lucrative six-fight contract with Showtime Boxing while Pacquiao is trying to recover from a devastating KO loss he suffered at the hands of longtime rival Juan Manuel Marquez last December.
Roger served as Floyd's trainer for most of his career, but had to take a step back recently because of health problems. Although Roger is still a member of Team Mayweather, Floyd Sr. resumed his position as the top trainer for his son since the fight with Robert Guerrero last May.
"Well, my dad, of course, he's a boxing wizard and Roger's a boxing wizard, so you can't go wrong with either guy," Floyd Jr. said. "My dad is the main trainer and, of course, it's not like I fired anyone. It's just that my dad's a little sick, but he's a lot healthier than Roger is," Floyd told ESPN during his training earlier this year.
