Nintendo has a lot to prove this year at E3. In the wake of lackluster sales and a paltry software lineup, the company needs to bring its big guns, otherwise known as Mario, Zelda, and Smash Bros., to salvage its reputation among gamers. Thankfully, the Big N reportedly plans to do just that. Tune in at e3.nintendo.com for an official live stream at 10 AM (EST) as we bring you up to the minute coverage in Latinos Post's live blog.

While Nintendo will likely have more than a few surprises ready, here's what we know already. Late last month, Nintendo of America tweeted the following post:

"#IwataSays We will discuss new Smash Bros., 3D Mario game, Mario Kart and other Wii U titles in our #NintendoDirectNA before the start of E3."

Alongside these juggernauts, expect to see The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, and Super Luigi U in some form. A new game by Retro Studios, the developer behind the Metroid Prime Series and Donkey Kong Country Returns, may also premiere if we're lucky.

Smash Bros.

Masahiro Sakurai, the face of the team behind Smash Bros., recently announced on Twitter that the very first trailer for the brawler will debut during the Nintendo Direct show tomorrow. A 3DS is also in the works, although there has been no word on whether or not it will make an appearance. Optimistically, Nintendo will open up a demo of the next Smash Bros. on E3's show floor, but it's too early to tell.

Zelda

Aside from the Wind Waker remake, the Zelda franchise will welcome two new entries in the form of a 3DS sequel to 'A Link to the Past' and a Wii U Zelda game. Creative Director Eiji Aonuma told Edge magazine, "I think the new additions will make players see the game in a different way...And, of course, we'll introduce even more unexpected elements in the Zelda game that we're making for Wii U."

Third Party

Nintendo platforms have been successful as a result of quality first-party software, but the poor sales of the Wii U have triggered a retreat of third-party publishers. Electronic Arts, the home of Madden, currently has no games planned for release on the Wii U, according to EA Spokesperson Jeff Brown.

In an interview with Kotaku, Brown admitted, "We have no games in development for the Wii U currently."

Only time will tell if the Wii U's fortunes will reverse and EA, along with other publishers, will flock back to the console.
