During this morning's Nintendo Direct screening, Smash Bros. games for the 3DS and Wii U were displayed in all of their glory in the first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequels. As the first title in the franchise to enter the HD era, the Wii U version shows a notable upgrade from its Wii counterpart. The 3DS Smash Bros. has a lightly cell-shaded style, which accents the handheld device's capabilities well. So, what's new?
Nintendo has a lot to prove this year at E3. In the wake of lackluster sales and a paltry software lineup, the company needs to bring its big guns, otherwise known as Mario, Zelda, and Smash Bros., to salvage its reputation among gamers.
