The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the games fans of the PlayStation 4 are most excited about, despite the game being at least a year away from being released. Recently, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who works on the game for developer CD Projekt Red shared his thoughts to Forbes on several topics, including his stance on digital rights management, or DRM:
"In my opinion, DRM is the worst thing in the gaming industry. It's limiting our rights to play games owned by us...Let's imagine that you have a game that requires Internet connection to prove that you actually bought it. What if you lose your connection because of your Internet provider? You can't play anymore."
The Witcher 3, unsurprisingly, does not have DRM. The game will also not have multiplayer added to the series, as the company believes the story of The Witcher's protagonist, Geralt, would not support it.
"The game will be an epic, story driven, single player, open world RPG experience... (we) strongly feel that this final saga of Geralt has no place for meaningful multiplayer."
Tomaszkiewicz also stated that quick time events, seen in The Witcher 2, will not be a part of the third game in the series.
"In my opinion, (quick time events) didn't fit this type of gaming experience and usually frustrated players. There is a small number of games where it is fun, like, for example, in the Uncharted series, where you don't even realize that you've just finished a QTE sequence. And I think that only this way of using QTE has any kind of future in games."
With all this talk of what's not in The Witcher 3, what exactly is going to be in the game? CD Projekt Red promises players at least 100 hours of gameplay, and the series wraps up protagonists Geralt's story. The game is also expected to look fantastic and take full advantage of the next-gen technology that will be available.
