Jeremy Lin Injured In Game 2, Could Miss Game 3 [VIDEO]: News Update
Is it déjà vu for Jeremy Lin? The Houston Rockets point guard missed the second half of their Game 2 quarterfinals stretch against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to an injury. This is his second Playoff injury in his two-year NBA career.
Coming into Wednesday night's game, Jeremy Lin was ready to prove his haters wrong. He contributed 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 20 minutes of play during the first half, as the Rockets trailed by a hairline of two points, 57-55. His stats surpassed his entire Game 1 output of 4 points on 1 of 7 shooting in 32 minutes of play.
However, during halftime, as the Harvard standout ran back to court, he knew something was wrong. Lin was experiencing serious pain in his chest, so much that he couldn't lift his arm above his shoulders. Although he insisted on playing, just before the start of the half, he knew it was already done for him in Game 2.
Lin retreated to the team's locker and missed the rest of the game in what the team describes as a chest contusion. As to whether the player can suit up for Game 3 is still in question.
This is the second time that the point guard will be suffering an injury during the Playoffs round. Last year, J Lin also missed the short postseason stint the New York Knicks had because of a knee injury that needed surgery.
"This is easily the most frustrating thing that's happened this entire season," Lin said in a report by the Houston Chronicle. "I've been healthy all season. The second half of a playoff game, on the road, we're playing well, Game 2, it's just...yeah, it speaks for itself."
The Rockets player isn't sure how he was injured during the first half or the extent of his injury. He thought he could play through the pain, but when he tried to run "it would be crazy."
"I don't know who I ran into," he said. "I hit somebody. I thought it would be OK. I came back in for halftime. I put some heat on there and tried to run and couldn't really run."
X-rays turned up negative for any serious injury, and Lin says if the "spasming" stops, he'll be good to play on Saturday for Game 3.
"They're just saying X-rays are negative. I'll come in tomorrow and get some treatment."
