Jeremy Lin went down with an injury as the Houston Rockets came up just short, dropping Game 2 to the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-102 on Wednesday, letting the Thunder take a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Lin played for 20 minutes in the first half, scoring seven points on 3-for-7 shooting with three assists, but suffered a contusion on the right side of his chest during game play in the second quarter. The Rockets star point guard was seen grimacing in pain prior to the start of the third quarter as he attempted to take some free throws and was ushered back to the locker room.

He did not return for the duration of the game.

Lin was part of a three-guard attack by Houston coach Kevin McHale, who responded to Sunday's blowout loss in Game 1 by going small. The Rockets' new game plan worked, as the youngest team competing in the playoffs got quick attacks, netted 32 points in the paint and took the lead several times, including late in the fourth quarter, but sloppy defense and rushed shot attempts late in the game helped OKC hold off Houston, who went on a 21-2 run during the second half.

Whether or not Lin's condition will be an issue for Game 3 could be addressed on Friday, when the series shifts back to the Toyota Center in Houston.

This is not the first game-affecting injury that Lin has suffered. Lin has dealt with ankle issues several times this season, and missed the playoffs last April in New York thanks to season-ending surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left leg. For the month of April, Lin has been a critical part of the Rockets' success, scoring season highs of 17.3 points and 6.9 assists.
