Samsung has some good news to share regarding their Galaxy Note 2 but it relates more to its corporation.
According to the South Korea company, it took only 37 days for the Galaxy Note 2 to sell three million "phablet" units.
The research firm IDC stated Samsung has sold more smartphones in the July to September period than Apple by more than double. Samsung in the third quarter sold 56.3 million units to Apple's 26.9 million units. The iPhone 5 was released on September 21, nine days before the third quarter closed however. And although not in the same market segment, the iPhone 5 did sell five million units in its first weekend.
The "phablet" has been coined for the Galaxy Note 2 due to being too big to be a phone but yet too small to be considered a tablet.
Youkyung Lee of the AP reported that Samsung's Note category took off in the market overcoming skepticism about its big size making it look awkward when held close to the face.
