Just in time as the iPhone 5 is released in nine countries, Apple's rival Samsung has dropped prices for a few of their Galaxy devices.
Samsung has slashed the prices for the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, and the original Note, but effective for India.
The timing could be a coincidence but it does occur as Apple's iPhone 5 announced over two million people have preordered the device and four continents are selling the device.
The Galaxy S2 features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 800x400, 1,024 MB RAM, 3G and 4G networks, nine hours of talk time, 620 hours on standby, and weighs at 116 grams.
The Galaxy S3, which sold over 20 million units, has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD screen, which is 0.8-inches larger than the iPhone 5, 3G and 4G LTE network, Near Field Communication, 300 hours on standby, six hours of talk time, and rear and front-facing cameras.
The original Galaxy Note features 5.3-inch Super AMOLED HD screen with 1,280x800 resolution, 1.4GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, eight-megapixel rear camera, and two-megapixel front camera.
The Galaxy S2's new price is Rs 27,990, Galaxy S3 now costs Rs 34,990, and the Galaxy Note starts at Rs 29,900. All three devices have seen a reduction between Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000.
The news also comes when the Galaxy Note 2 might have found its first US mobile carrier, with US Cellular. According to Android Guys, US Cellular will offer the 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD smartphone with a $299.99 price tag after a $100 main-in rebate.
US Cellular is reported to have the device by "late October."
"The Samsung Galaxy Note II on the fast 4G LTE network provides our customers with a unique experience that can make work and play easier wherever you are," said U.S. Cellular Vice President of Sales and Marketing Operations Edward Perez. "We are once again excited to work with Samsung to bring this caliber of device to our customers to help them stay connected to the people and information important to them."
