Bayern Munich's second match did not go as planned as they outplayed by a determined BATE Borisov side. Last year's runner-ups could not even score until the first minute of the stoppage in the second half, but by that point, they second game was already out of their reach.

Borisov jumped out to a 1-0 lead off an Aleksandr Pavlov in the 23rd minute of a slick half volley near the penalty spot. Bayern controlled the pace throughout the game and created more chance, but the lead was extended in the 55th minute when Vitali Rodionov got a nice through pass from Edgar Olekhnovich that he rifled past keeper Manuel Neuer. Franck Ribery finally put Munich on the board in the 90+1, but Renan Bressan kept the goal differential at +2 in the fourth minute of stoppage.

The loss drops Munich into a tie with Valencia who defeated Lille 2-0. The Spanish side dominated the disappointing French squad and got two goals form Jonas to secure a +1 gola differential and put themselves, for the time being, ahead of Munich.
