Verifying the security of the links you click on is vital if you want to avoid a possible cyber attack. However, verifying links regarding our favorite artists is even more important, taking into account the results of a new study carried out by a renowned cyber protection firm.
According to the new study made by security corporation, McAfee, cybercriminals usually take advantage of the popularity of artists to spread malware infections, spam and virus.
According to McAfee, model Adriana Lima and singer Shakira comprise the group of the Most Dangerous Celebrities to Search for in the Internet in 2013.
Actress Lily Collins, who played the role of Snow White in the movie "Mirror, Mirror," heads the list, since one in seven searches with her name lead to a dangerous or unauthenticated website.
"The searches on 'Lily Collins free download', 'Lily Collins naked pictures' expose users to cyber threats that can infect their computers and steal personal information," stated a press release by McAfee, as quoted by CNN.
It's worth highlighting that, in 2012, the ranking of the most dangerous celebrity searches was headed by actress Emma Watson, whose position now belongs to Lily Collins, leaving Avril Lavigne and Sandra Bullock in second and third places, respectively.
The firm's report assigns a risk percentage when searching the name of a celebrity, according to People en Español.
For Lily Collins, the search risk percentage is 14.5%, while searches with Zoe Saldana's name (fifth in the list) report a risk of 10.5%, for example.
