Paula Patton and Colin Farrell could join the cast of "World of Warcraft."
Deadline reported that Patton was negotiating a contract to star in the film, while Farrell was offered a role. According to Deadline, Farrell was still 50/50 on whether he would sign the contract.
The new film will be directed by Duncan Jones ("Moon," "Source Code") and will be set in a universe in which goblins, trolls, elves and humans co-exist with zombies, werewolves and even aliens. The film will be produced by Thomas Tull, Jon Jashui of Legendary Pictures and Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment.
Patton was recently seen in "2 Guns" alongside Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. She was also seen in "Disconnected," "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol," "Jumping the Broom" and "Precious." She will next be seen in "Baggage Claim" and "About Last Night."
Farrell is best known for his work in "Phone Booth," "Total Recall," Fright Night" and "Miami Vice." He has also been seen in "In Bruges," "The Way Back," "Seven Psychopaths" and "Horrible Bosses." He will next be seen in "Saving Mr. Banks," "Miss Julie" and "Winter's Tale." He is currently filming "Solace" with Abbie Cornish, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Anthony Hopkins.
"World of Warcraft's" screenplay was written by Charles Leavitt ("Blood Diamond") and is being produced for $100 million. Legendary Pictures is eyeing to start production in the fall of 2013 to reach a potential 2015 release date. Universal is slated to release the movie.
