The specs for LG's Optimus G Pro, the newest version of the popular Optimus G, were revealed today along with a leaked image, as first reported by Engadget. A release date for LG's newest flagship phone is rumored to be as early as sometime this May.

The leaked image, with specs written in Japanese on the slide, shows an Optimus G Pro that looks not unlike its predecessor, which means it looks pretty good. There seem to be two basic color variations available -  Platinum White or Indigo Black as translated by Tech Crunch - at least to start with when it launches in Japan. But the translated specs show many improvements over the LG Optimus G, if they are correct.

The Optimus G Pro looks like it will be boasting a soon-to-be industry standard 5-inch touch screen, with a high definition 1080p display. Inside is a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, with 2GB of RAM. Other hardware includes a 13-megapixel rear camera and a surprisingly beefy 2.4-megapixel front camera. Other details include a 32 GB storage capacity, a 3,000mAh battery, and LTE support. It purportedly will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

If the sales for the LG Optimus G are any indication, the Optimus G Pro will do pretty well: Android Central is reporting that the Optimus G has sold more than 1 million units since its release. Earlier reports, as far back as November, have the newer LG Optimus G Pro being released this May, but check back with us before then. We will be scouring the net for more leaks and detailed specifications as they happen.
