While it hasn't made its public debut yet, Samsung's Galaxy S4 is, for many, the most anticipated smartphone of 2013. Much about the handset has leaked out the public, but a new benchmark spotting seems to confirm what everybody was hoping for - an eight-core processor.
Apparently, the Korean model (SHV-E300S) and international variant (GT-I9500) of the Galaxy S4 made appearances at Antutu benchmarks. The results showed that both variants sported Samsung's new Exynos 5 Octa chipset, an eight-core processor, clocked in at around 1.8GHz.
While eight cores sounds fancy, what does it mean for you? According to Samsung, the chipset will deliver better performance, battery life, and 3D performance. The Exynos 5 Octa CPU uses four ARM Cortex-A15 chips to handle the high-performance tasks, and four Cortex-A7 chips for most of the grunt work. Samsung claims that by allocating system processes among the two quad-cores, the Exynos 5 Octa improves on previous generation chipsets in almost every way. Of course, we'll have to wait and see how it holds up to daily use in a smartphone.
The Galaxy S4 will also be coming with a 4.99-inch 1080p Full HD AMOLED display that will give viewers a whopping 440 pixels per inch. The handset is also expected to have 2GB RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and the latest version of Android at the time of its release - most likely Android 4.2.
Samsung is even developing a wireless charging module for the Galaxy S4 that will allow users to wirelessly charge their smartphone from up to six feet away.
None of this has been officially confirmed by Samsung - we'll have to wait until the launch event sometime after March - but which one of these features about the Galaxy S4 has you most excited?
