Samsung's Galaxy Note series has really taken off despite low initial expectations, and the South Korean-based electronics manufacturer looks like it will be improving the Galaxy Note 2 in almost every way with the Galaxy Note 3. A new report reinforces the following: the Galaxy Note 3's screen will be even bigger, and its processor even more powerful.
The latest spec rumors come from Korean news outlet Korea Times, which states that the Galaxy Note 3 will sport a 6.3-inch display. For comparison, the original Galaxy Note from 2011 had a 5.3-inch screen, and the Galaxy Note 2 from 2012 featured a 5.55-inch screen. This year, the trend seems to be 1080p Full HD displays, so expect the Galaxy Note 3 to have a ridiculous amount of pixels per inch.
Samsung also revealed an incredibly powerful eight-core processor, the Exynos 5 Octa chipset, at CES 2013. The Exynos 5 Octa utilizes four ARM Cortex-A15 cores to handle the intensive tasks and four Cortex-A7 cores to take care of the mundane grunt work. Samsung claims that with with this setup, the Exynos 5 Octa chipset uses around 70 percent less power than the typical quad-core. Samsung also states that the Exynos 5 Octa will deliver unprecedented 3D performance.
The latest version of the S Pen, Android, LTE, and NFC are all givens, seeing as how those features have already appeared on the Galaxy Note 2.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 should be releasing sometime during the second half of 2013 since the Galaxy Note 2 released Oct. 2012, and Samsung will most likely be shooting for a similar time frame, leaving the first half of the year to the Galaxy S4. Expect the Galaxy Note 3 to be priced in the same range as its predecessors.
