Samsung Galaxy Note And Galaxy Note 10.1 Jelly Bean Update: Handset Has To Wait, Tablet Doesn't

Samsung Galaxy Note owners of all sizes have something to be happy about: it seems that the original Galaxy Note smartphone's Jelly Bean update is just around the corner and the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet has already started receiving Android 4.1.2 here in the United States. 

We recently wrote that the Galaxy Note may have started receiving Jelly Bean in Poland, but the early report turned out to be false. Instead, Galaxy Note owners around the globe are still anxiously waiting for Android 4.1. 

The good news, however, is that Samsung has already released official details about the Galaxy Note Jelly Bean update, which will include normal Jelly Bean features as well as Samsung's Premium Suite upgrade. This can only mean the update is polished and almost ready to go. Samsung has also stated that the Galaxy S2 will be getting Jelly Bean in February, which could be the same time as when the Galaxy Note Android upgrade rolls out (U.S. carrier-tied Galaxy handset owners, once again, will have to wait even longer). 

Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet owners in the United States, however, have already started receiving their Android 4.1.2 update. Firmware  JZO54K is available for download for the GT-N8013 Wi-Fi-only model, and can be grabbed over the air or through Samsung KIES. Make sure to check back often if the upgrade isn't showing up, as Android updates tend to roll out batches. 

Android Jelly Bean kept the "4" moniker that Ice Cream Sandwich sported, but still offers significant additions. It introduces Google Now, a Siri-like voice assistant that many actually prefer to Siri, and also improves system performance with Project Butter.
