During Spike TV's VGA Awards, a new game called "The Phantom Pain" was revealed. The trailer did not give away much, but the protagonist had a stark resemblance to "Metal Gear Solid's" Solid Snake. The speculation started to revolve around the title and numerous outlets began to question whether this new game was in fact "Metal Gear Solid 5."
Those speculations may now be confirmed as a product listing from Play Asia for the Japanese and United States version of the game has been released. Play Asia lists the game as "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" on its website. The listing says that the title is "tentative" on the American version, but does not have the same indication on the Japanese site.
More importantly, the Japanese page lists From Software as the developer for the title while the American site lists Konami as the developer. The site also utilizes a promo pictures from "Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes" as well as a fan-made picture that shows how the words "Metal Gear Solid V" fit perfectly in between the words "The Phantom Pain."
Back when the game was revealed, the developer was called Moby Dick Studios. The company's website was later revealed to be a fake.
Play Asia is an online retailer based in Hong Kong. It was established in 2002 to sell video games, accessories and other electronic goods.
