Courtesy of German tech site Telekon Presse, new footage of the BlackBerry Z10's operating system has leaked, showing off the device just two weeks before its official unveiling at RIM's January 30 launch press conference (via Ubergizmo). Near the end of December, promotional material for the device unsurprisingly revealed that the Z10 will ship in both black and white.
Reports indicate that the BlackBerry X10, Z10, N-Series, and L-Series will be shown off at the event. While the Z10 features an all-touch screen interface, the X10 and N-Series will sport traditional keypads. The L-Series reportedly features a 4.2-inch screen with a 1280x768 resolution, while the Z10 carries a OMAP dual-core processor, 16GB internal storage, 1GB of RAM, a 2-megapixel front camera, and an 8-megapixel rear camera.
At CES 2013 we learned that AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint would back the BlackBerry 10, a significant vote of confidence in the tough handset market. RIM CMO Frank Boulben promises 70,000 apps, including most of the top apps around, available to BlackBerry 10 users when the gadget ships, according to Fierce Wireless.
Despite BlackBerry's downfall at the hands of the Samsung Galaxy series and Apple's iPhone, press has been astoundingly positive surrounding the new smartphone series' launch. But, RIM will need more than the support of tech experts if they hope to challenge the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S, both of which are expected to land on store shelves in Spring 2013.
