Ninja Theory's "DmC Devil May Cry" is one of the most anticipated games of the year and the controversy surrounding the game is only likely to increase as more gamers give the title a try. A few gamers have already gotten their hands on the title and have reportedly revealed the ending of the game.

[SPOILER ALERT]

The final boss of the game is not Mundus as one might expect. Throughout the game Mundus, a demon, is in search of Dante and his brother Vergil to kill them. According to a thread on GameFAQs, players will have to raid Mundus' tower and battle elite demons before taking on the baddie himself. However, the battle apparently takes two forms. During the initial cut scene, Mundus defeats Dante in human form, but Vergil "must shut down the Hellgate, which is Mundus' source of power." The demon transforms into a massive monster and absorbs Vergil who eventually fights Mundus' core. Meanwhile, Dante takes on the giant blob outside. The big twist however comes after Mundus gets killed by the two brothers.

According to the spoilers on the threads, Vergil decides to become the ruler of the world and control the humans at his own will. Dante tells his brother to let a human rule the world, but Vergil tells him that the humans would only cause chaos. Vergil then asks Dante to stand aside, but the latter refuses. This prompts a final battle between the two brothers. Eventually Dante drives his sword through Vergil's chest and is about to kill him. However, he eventually withdraws the blade when the human Kat begs Dante to stop hurting his brother. The two stop fighting and Dante tells Vergil that the world will now be under his protection. The latter retorts that Dante has chosen the wrong side and tells him that he loved him before disappearing.

The ending has naturally created a lot of different opinions on the boards with some fans proclaiming the ending emotional while others ridiculing it.

User KingCafe says "I can't believe they thought up such a heart wrenching ending to a game, this is almost as god as MGS4 ending. Dante has to fight his own brother, and then he has to protect the whole world on his own, it like he is sacrificing himself for everyone, just amazing. Definitely gonna be a day one buy."

Geoboi agreed and stated that "Watched the ending and still gonna buy it...the ending was better than all the endings in previous DMC games combined IMO."

Jeremy 1498 added, "Admittedly yeah it isn't the greatest ending, but it isn't horrible. It seems like you're all blowing it out of proportion."

More FunThanTV was not as complementary and noted, "But the Vergil fight's gameplay looked terrible. That more than the ending cut scene is my reason for canceling my preorder."

RichterB17 concurred and noted that "There has to be limit to this man, how much can a company get away with in a lackluster product? Lame story, lame boss fights (this is one was supposed to be the better one), lame weapons, and now lame ending. You want gameplay? Play the demo everything is unlocked for the 4 weapons that you have. This game has nothing the originals games didn't have, in fact his has less. I'm not trying to dictate where your money goes, but is this really worth the 60 bucks?"

Fiori posted that "The main problem with DmC ending is that they should really have made Mundus the final boss (considering the battle seems to be miles better than Vergil's). It was a weak ending, but it could be better without any problem."

***What do you think about the ending? Watch a video of the game's ending HERE. *** Though this video looks like it is from the game,t ehre ahs been no verification that this is in fact from the game. It does however, match all the comments made by the above fans and posters.
