Verizon customers got a holiday treat when Big Red began pushing out Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx on Christmas Eve. Sadly, it's looking like the release was unintended, as the Jelly Bean update no longer seems to be available over the air.
According to a report from Android Authority, only some users were able to fully download the 330MB Jelly Bean update. Others had their downloads halted midway, and it seems like people are no longer receiving the upgrade over the air. Verizon may resume rolling out the update soon, but all signs are pointing to Verizon accidentally releasing the upgrade prematurely. Verizon also doesn't seem to have a support page regarding the Jelly Bean update, indicating the carrier may have initially been unaware the update was making its way across the airwaves.
The update seems to work fine, however, and if you're still hungry for Jelly Bean on your Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx, you can head over to XDA to download the file manually. Of course, you'll have to backup your device, and flash from stock. Read instructions carefully, and it's advisable to simply wait if you're a little iffy on tech.
The Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx received Ice Cream Sandwich around half a year ago, and it wasn't until October, when Motorola revealed its Android update schedule, that the phones were expected to get Jelly Bean.
Let us know if you were able to download Android 4.1.2 for the Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx and what you think of the build.
