HTC's One X was a wildly popular Android smartphone, and its successor, the M7, looks like it may give HTC a much needed boost against Samsung and Apple in 2013. Outed recently, the HTC M7 has now had its specs leak out onto the Internet.
There has been no official confirmation by HTC regarding any of these specs, and the information comes from an anonymous source who is said to be reliable in the past.
The HTC M7 will come with a 4.7-inch 1080p display. This means that the M7 will give viewers an eye-popping 468 pixels per inch. The display is also said to utilize new technology to improve viewing angles, colors, and outdoor visibility.
The M7's innards will be packed full of power, featuring a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, LTE support up to 42Mbps, and a 2300mAh battery. The handset should also have 2GB RAM and a 32GB internal memory storage capacity. Android Jelly Bean, most likely version 4.2, will be pre-installed on the M7.
The M7 should also have improved versions of HTC's softwares, including photo/video features that will take advantage of its 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
While there is no official release date just yet, the HTC M7 is expected to be unveiled in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Given the possibility of other high-profile handsets launching around the same time frame (Galaxy S4, iPhone 5S), HTC will most likely try to get the M7 on store shelves as soon as possible to snatch up consumers.
An earlier report stated that HTC has been in talks with suppliers about placing an order of 4-5 million HTC M7s for Q1 2013.
