Trying to land a Google Nexus 4 now might just seem impossible. Sure it's in high demand, but it seems that the supply side's role in this shortage is becoming more and more clear. A Google executive recently went so far as to blame LG, the manufacturer of the Nexus 4, for a "scarce and erratic" supply.
"Dear all, I know that what you are going through is unacceptable and we are all working through the nights and weekends to resolve this issue," Google's UK and Ireland managing director Dan Cobley said on Google Plus. "Supplies from the manufacturer are scarce and erratic, and our communication has been flawed."
Google has been working hard to resolve the supply shortage of the Nexus 4, but there are still no assuring indicators.
"I am optimistic that we will be able to share some positive news shortly, but I do not want to cause any more disappointment by making a commitment until we are 100% sure we can deliver on it," Cobley also wrote.
The Google Play store is still sold out of the 8GB Nexus 4, with no estimated time frame as to when the handset will be available for purchase again. While it was available for a while longer, the 16GB Nexus 4 is also now sold out as well. T-Mobile's online store is also stating that the carrier is currently out of stock on its Nexus 4.
That means that those who simply can't wait until supplies pick back up again will have to resort to third-party retailers, some of whom are charging $250 more than Google's asking prices. Still, for those who want a high-end unlocked smartphone that will receive the latest version of Android the fastest, the Nexus 4 is hard to top.
