The official Asus-branded Nexus 7 dock has received the un-boxing treatment on Youtube, giving consumers a glimpse at the tablet's newest accessory. While the dock is not yet available in North America, a Japanese model has been announced by the company.
According to a Tech 2 report, "Asus claims that there is no need to update the device for it to be compatible with the docking station." The dock measures in at 65x65.1x219 mm with a weight of 280g. The accessory features a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro USB port as well.
The Nexus 7 is expected to surpass one million sales by the end of December, asserts DigiTimes. The 7-inch tablet's comes up against the iPad mini and Kindle Fire HD this holiday season, faring well in the critic circuit.
Google's director of business development for Android John Lagerling told the New York Times, "We haven't announced numbers. We typically don't allow our partners to announce numbers. All I can say is it has sold way above expectations. That could mean one of two things: Either we have very low expectations or we've done amazing well. But we're very pleased with how we've done with the Nexus 7."
Google's device runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and sports a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, a 1280x800 display, and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera.
Consumers can get their hands on the 16GB model for $199.99, the 32GB for $249.99, and a cellular 32GB for $299.99.
