The iPad Mini had many people excited when it was first announced, and despite strong sales, has slightly disappointed users due to its mid-range features. But no worries, Apple looks like it will be improving display on the iPad Mini's sequel.
Reliable website DigiTimes reports that the iPad Mini 2 will most likely feature a higher-resolution, Retina display.
"The sources have yet to specify whether the device will use Apple's Retina Display technology to enhanced resolution, but market observers said it is highly likely based on the development of past Apple products such as the iPhone and 9.7-inch iPad series," reports DigiTimes.
Digitimes bases its report on industry insiders.
Apple will also try and decrease the weight of the iPad Mini 2 by shedding some unnecessary weight.
"Meanwhile, the sources also said that Apple will restructure the lighting of the next-generation 9.7-inch iPad from two LED light bars to one in order to decrease the device's overall weight," Digitimes writes.
While no other concrete information about the iPad Mini has surfaced, consumers can expect a faster processor, better battery life, and improved connectability - standards of any device sequel.
The iPad Mini launched in early Nov. 2012 and practically sold out within its first few days. The demand proves that consumers are interested in a more portable, and budget-friendly tablet to carry around instead of a 9.7-inch iPad.
"Customers around the world love the new iPad mini and fourth generation iPad," Apple CEO Tim Cook said. "We set a new launch weekend record and practically sold out of iPad minis. We're working hard to build more quickly to meet the incredible demand."
