Reddit user Agent_Hank_Schrader wanted to do something humorous with his little one. As it turns out, the result of his attempt at a face swap with his baby daughter earned mixed reactions. Some may agree the photo is downright creepy, even to Halloween-like levels.
"As you can see, the father has gained a baby face for a nose and his baby has gained, well, a disturbing nostril face, straight out of a Guillermo del Toro movie," Mashable observed.
Some Redditors commented on the strangeness of the image, with one saying it's on "nightmare level."
"Hope his name is Nostrildamus," noted another, with yet another user suggesting "Nosetradamus."
"The image, showing father and daughter on a brown suede couch, shows just how the app can go horribly wrong as, while the father has a miniature version of his daughter's fact implanted over where his nose once was, his daughter has gained a horrifying visage made up of enlarged nostrils and facial hair," MailOnlne graphically described of the photo.
"The little girl, who appears to be being held up for the snap by her mother, looks utterly demonic in the monstrous photo fail," it added. "Her father's nostrils appear to take the place of her eyes, appearing to be gaping holes of blackness while the center of his mustache appears as a disturbing, up-turned grin."
The photo has since earned 2.7 million views since it was uploaded on Sunday.
Face swapping is nothing new, as this trend had began to a couple of years back and was fueled by apps that can allow this kind of effect. There's even a Tumblr dedicated to celebrities, aptly called Celebrity Face Swaps.
"The Celebrity Face Swaps Tumblr took on the likes of A-list couples such as Beyonce and Jay-Z and Prince William and Kate Middleton," the British publication noted. "It also took on popular TV and movie characters like Monica and Chandler from friends and even Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter."
There also is a post, dating back to 2008, of various parents with faces swapped with those of their children, to hilarious results. This proves that the dad-baby face swap is not exactly a terribly original idea. You can check it out here.
Admittedly, though, the nostril swap appears to be a novel, albeit odd, idea.
