Information on the next season of Microsoft's hit fighting game "Killer Instinct" has been released.
Gamespot reports that season 3 will have something for both fans of the old games as well as new players. Major and minor tweaks to the game will also be made.
From what is known so far, three new characters will be joining the lineup. One of them is Rash from the "Battletoads" franchise. Rash was previewed a few months ago as a test to see how the character would fit into the game in general, and since Microsoft confirmed that Rash will be available for season 3 when it debuts in March 2016, it seems the testing went well.
The other two confirmed characters who will be making their debuts in the game will be "Killer Instinct" veterans Tusk and Kim Wu. According to Event Hubs, the two characters are currently going through the testing stages now and are almost complete.
Tusk made his only appearance in the series in "Killer Instinct 2" and later in "Killer Instinct Gold." He is a barbarian who is linked to Maya in the games, and his ending even has him marrying the Amazonian warrior. His original look is a "Conan the Barbarian" motif.
Kim Wu is famous for being the second Asian female in the game next to Orchid. However, Microsoft has confirmed that her back story as well as her look will be overhauled completely for the new season.
Both characters will be available when season 3 launches in March, and according to Reedit poster Galaxxus, both characters will have their retro costumes available for unlocking.
Characters who are currently in the game will also be receiving new unlockable costumes as well as accessories. A new lineup of DLC costumes and accessories has also been confirmed.
A new dojo mode will be made available in season 3. This mode will act as a training mode of sorts, teaching new players how to do more combos, combo breakers, as well as ultras.
Also confirmed is that two of the current roster characters will get a total re-working on their mechanics to balance out the game. Rumored to be safe from these re-workings are Glacius, Aganos, and Shadow Jago.
Iron Galaxy has also confirmed that they want to have the gaming community more involved with the game. It is heavily rumored that they might be doing another fundraiser, similar to what they did with Shadow Jago in season 2.
