Video game developer and publisher Square Enix has a New Year treat for all "Final Fantasy" fans.

In an announcement made by Square Enix in Japan, it highlighted that it will be bringing the iconic "Final Fantasy IX" to PC as well as on mobile devices this 2016.

Moreover, although no specific detail when the game will be released this year as well as when it will be launched in North America and Europe, Square Enix specified that the action role-playing game will be available on Android and iOS.

According to the report by The Verge, Square Enix will be integrating modern features to the game just like what it did when it ported "Final Fantasy VII."

The report mentioned that the game will be filled with features such as autosave and high-speed mode as well as improvements in terms of its graphics.

Additionally, a game trailer for the Smart Phone and PC version was also released by Square Enix. The Verge, however, cited that the trailer does not show much more than cutscenes; it highlighted that the battle system seems to be upgraded in terms of visuals while also appearing to have a batter and smoother execution than its PS1 version.

As mentioned in the report by Game Rant, "Final Fantasy IX" is regarded as one of the greatest and most iconic games in the "Final Fantasy" series. It added that, although the game did not see that much financial success when it was released, the game was still memorable due to the fact that it departs from the typical "sci-fi trappings" and instead showcased an action-packed adventure in a medieval setting with a blend of steampunk.

The game, according to Final Fantasy Wikia, revolves around the thief named Zidane Tribal who joins the quest to stop the war between nations.

Besides bringing "Final Fantasy IX" to PC and mobile devices this 2016, Square Enix has also announced recently that it will be releasing "Final Fantasy XV" this year. As cited in the Latinos Post report, the game is already in its final phase and the team is doing its best to deliver the game to live up to players expectations. However, no specific release date for the game was mentioned.
