iPhone 7 Won't Have Antenna Stripes, to be Waterproof? [Release Date, Specs, Features & Rumors]

The iPhone 7 is still months away from a possible release but some of the rumors have started to sprout as we speak.

One big change in feature that the iPhone 7 would have was about its waterproofing. Until today, there was no word on how Apple would exactly go about it. Apparently, all that will be left in the caring hands of Catchter Technologies, which will be tasked to supply the chassis components for the next batch of iPhones.

The Taiwan-based chassis manufacturer is expected to be Apple’s largest chassis supplier for 2016, something that was mentioned in a report by the Digi Times.

The report confirms the talk surrounding the possible water-proofing rumors going around though it seems to be not the only one the company will be doing. They will also use a “new compound material” that will help conceal the antenna better, which means the usual plastic stripes found on present iPhones will be gone.

With that said, it does change the possible design of the upcoming iPhone 7, which could probably come out with a different design.

Apple had started employing more water-resistant phones that kicked off with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. This was done through the integration of a gasket and silicone seals, though it remains to be seen if more changes could be forthcoming for the next iPhone device.

Also, the question on the actual body make of the iPhone 7 comes to mind. Will Apple shift to a non-metallic chassis?

Apple has so far leaned on an all-aluminum design since releasing the iPhone 5, so the ones planned by Catcher Technologies does seem interesting to see. The undisclosed material could account for better stability for the upcoming iPhone and hopefully be cheaper to somehow bring down its eventual selling price.

Aside from the improved water-proofing and new compound material in mention, there will hopefully be more word on previous rumors that came out in the open.

Per a previous post, that includes a possible lightning port or USB Type-C used for docking in lieu of the traditional 3.5 mm port, an alleged dual camera with optical zoom, the screen display and the actual processor Apple will use for their next iPhone flagship.

The iPhone 7 is likely to be unveiled by  September 2016 whenApple usually introduces its new line of iPhone models. With a long way to go, more rumors and hopefully confirmed features will come our way.
