A “mini version” of select flagship models have seemingly become a fad these days. Some of you may have already heard about the rumor on Apple’s end, something pertaining to the iPhone Mini or iPhone 6c which is widely believed to be coming out soon.
If Apple has one, how about Samsung?
Something to that respect did come out back in October through Phone Arena. At that time, there was a bit of hesitation on whether it was a fluke or something that would really come out.
However, recent developments may have more or less confirmed that there is indeed a Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini per Ubergizmo. Such was spotted over retailer site (LetsTango) from the United Arab Emirates carrying the specs that were rumoured earlier on via Phone Arena.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini will allegedly come with the following features:
- 4.6-inch Super AMOLED screen
- Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset (hexacore 1.8 GHz)
- An Adreno 418 GPU
- 2 GB of RAM
- 16 GB of internal storage
- 15 MP main camera
- 5 MP front-facing camera
- A non-removable battery
Other features include a fingerprint sensor which has become a prime one most folks look forward these days for added security. The device will also come with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
While the device has already been listed at the LetsTango website, it is not yet ready for purchase. Instead, folks who are interested in getting one can sign up by submitting their email address so that they may be notified in the event that the Galaxy S6 Mini does become available and ready for purchase.
The timing of its release does come with a lot of questions in mind especially with the Samsung Galaxy S7 likely to be revealed in two months or so. If that were the case, would it not overshadow the alleged Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini?
Looking at it broadly, it may not be the case. Unless Samsung is expected the said Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini to sell big, it could be a tactic similar to the one that Apple is doing with its alleged iPhone 6c.
The difference is of course the allowance of release.
Apple is likely to release the iPhone 7 by September with the iPhone 6c coming out earlier. The initial belief was that it could come out by mid 2016 though a previous post explains why it could debut by March, 2016 alongside a new Apple Watch.
Hence, seeing a Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini does make a lot of sense and unlikely to cause sales forecast issues. It is likely to have downgraded features and hopefully would be something that will not be hard on the buyer’s pocket.
