There are rumors that the iOS 9.2 is already getting close to having a public version available. The jailbreak for iOS 9.2 is like to become available in the next months.
Previously, a Chinese hacker group, 3K Assistant, announced that it is working on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 9.2. 3K Assistant has worked on various jailbreaks before and is actually a recommended source. DownloadBlog noted that the Weibo post seemed to have been taken out by 3K Assistant, although a blog post explained the current developments.
Superphen’s Tech Blog stated that an iOS 9.2 jailbreak may become available through 3K Assistant. The post stated that the group was developing an iOS 9.2 untethered jailbreak. Although they already came up with a functional model, a public version has yet to be released. On Dec. 18, 2015, the post mentioned that after working on iOS 9.2 for eight days, they had a breakthrough in jailbreaking it. The jailbreak is currently incomplete and 3K asked for more time to come up with an untethered version.
“It has been 8 days since iOS 9.2 has been officially released. In those 8 days, 3K Assistant has been industrious on iOS 9.2 jailbreak. Our effort was rewarded, after 8 days of hard work, 3K Assistant has finally made some breakthrough on iOS 9.2.” The hacker group stated.
“Although iOS 9.2 is yet completely jailbroken, I believe in the very near future, iOS 9.2 untethered jailbreak will be presented to all of you. Jailbreakers please be patient in waiting and expecting…All in all, there will be iOS 9.2 jailbreak tool, it’s just a matter of time.” 3K Assistant continued.
Popular Science revealed that the availability of more features to the Apple OS and including a number of jailbreak apps into the stock model have made the demand for jailbreaking go down in the past few years. However, there are still a number of apps and tweaks where some users still find the need to jailbreak.
Jailbreak users who are on an older iOS version may currently upgrade. Apple users will see how iOS 9.2 provides updates to Apple Music, an improved Siri when speaking Arabic, USB camera adapter support, enhanced protection against malware, longer battery life, added compatibility with new apps, and more. Users are already getting excited about the added freedom that they can enjoy with the availability of the new untethered jailbroken iOS 9.2.
