LG G4 owners will be glad to know that the much-awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has started rolling out in the United States.
Mobile carrier Sprint has reportedly started rolling out Android 6.0 M, making it the first in the US market to do so. The US has officially become the third region to get the Android OS push, with Poland and Korea being the first and second regions, respectively, to update to Android 6.0 M.
The rollout began as early as December 17, carrying the software version LS991ZV9.
The LG G4 is actually the first non-Nexus device to get the update, happening three weeks after Google released the highly touted Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update, as mentioned via Gotta Be Mobile.
Back in October, LG owners from Europe, Asia and America were mentioned as the regions set to get the Android 6.0 M bump. With the rollout now commencing, LG G4 owners will receive a huge jump from the previous Android 5.0 Lollipop to Android 6.0 M.
Curiously, a look over at the Sprint website does not offer an official changelog for the said update. Regardless, most LG G4 owners are probably aware by now of what is in store for them once the update is ready for download.
Per Android Authority, the update is expected to include an updated Knock Code, which should make the LG G4 more secure. Aside from that, the list is pretty much similar to what we have been hearing about Android 6.0 M.
That includes better battery life management courtesy of the Doze App, which should render better battery-saving features, improved assignment of permission on apps, the addition of Silent Mode on the sound profiles, the Do Not Disturb feature and Allow Peeking, which allows users to see notifications at the top of the screen.
Google Now On Tap is also included, something that should aid users when it comes to information requirements, as well as an exclusive feature for Sprint subscribers called Spring Global Roaming.
As with most devices, Android 6.0 M is expected to be rolled out incrementally via stages. With that said, there is no telling when the patch will be made available so it would be best to constantly check your phone settings to see if the update is already available.
In case it is, remember to make sure you have a stable WiFi connection and that your device is at least 50% charged.
