It doesn't hurt to add one more character to the "Super Smash Bros." universe, especially if that character is a very popular one, like Bayonetta.
"According to Nintendo, Bayonetta was the 'overall number one choice worldwide' in the Super Smash Bros. ballot, which asked fans to nominate DLC characters for Super Smash Bros," Polygon reported.
As it turns out, she came in first place in Europe and landed among the top 5 characters in the US polls.
The bespectacled witch's claim to fame is her "excellent Wii U game, Bayonetta 2," which was released last year, Kotaku noted.
"The superstar witch-who will be the final DLC character for Smash 3DS and Wii U-can use all sorts of gun attacks as well as Witch Time, an ability from the Bayonetta games, which will slow down any opponent she blocks," the site explained.
The character will appear in two costumes - one from her original "Bayonetta" wardrobe and the other from the sequel, which means she can go to battle with shorter hair. She will use her four-gun trademark look, too.
Additionally, "Super Smash Bros." will have a new stage called the Umbra Clock Tower, on the style of the newly added character.
According to The Verge, Bayonetta is the 7th character in the game and will be the final one.
"It's also the third downloadable combatant from non-Nintendo properties; previously-announced characters include Cloud Strife from 'Final Fantasy VII' (coming later today) and Ryu from 'Street Fighter,'" the news source said. "The pack will cost $5.99 for either Wii U or Nintendo 3DS separately, or $6.99 to get both."
Bayonetta, which will be released in February, is not the only addition to the game. "Fire Emblem Fates'" Corrin will reportedly be scheduled for release for "Super Smash Bros." Both will be getting an Amiibo, too.
"Corrin can actually change between being male and female, though we understand that this will not affect his game play," Event Hubs noted.
Some fans may already be anticipating Bayonetta's addition to the game, considering the success of the title.
"One of the major defining aspects of the Bayonetta games was their intricate combat system," Forbes noted. "So the inclusion of things like the Wicked Weave attacks and Witch Time should be quite interesting to play with."
By the way, Kirby gets a transformation with the arrival of Bayonetta next year.
