Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone is at the center of a marketing blitzkrieg as the company vies to rip market share away from Apple, but in just a few months' time, it's on to the next one.

The Samsung Galaxy S4, which will reportedly launch midway through 2013, is already gaining traction among the techie crowd as the rumor mill churns which mechanical efficiency. Yet, prior speculation that the new model will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in January has been shot down by CNET, who notes that the S4 will be revealed at its own event following CES.

Under the hood, the S4 is said to feature a quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU, according to GSM Arena. On the surface, expect a 4.99" 1080p Super AMOLED screen, and a 13MP camera.

There is also talk of a possible 8-core chipset which uses both high and low power cores based on the demands placed on the device. GSM explains, "the chipset in particular will pack four A15s clocked at 1.8GHz and four A7s clocked at 1.2GHz. The A7 will reportedly match a quad-core Coretex-A8 CPU, while four A15s should offer a big increase over the already powerful A15 duo that powers the Nexus 10."

The Galaxy S3 sports an Exynos 4412 quad--core processor, a 4.8" Super AMOLED screen with a 1280x720 at 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.
