Samsung has been especially prolific this year with its Android updates, and despite the end of the year being right around the corner, it doesn't look like the South Korean electronics manufacturer is going to stop anytime soon. Samsung has officially started rolling out Android 4.1.2 for a couple Galaxy Note 2 models.

Those with Galaxy Note 2 model GT-N7100 and LTE GT-N7105 can expect an OTA update from Samsung sometime soon. The upgrade releases in batches, so not everyone will receive Android 4.1.2 immediately. Be sure to check regularly to see if your region is up at bat. Also, carrier-tied Galaxy Note 2s will have to wait even longer than their unlocked counterparts.

Android 4.1.2 allows users to toggle Multi-View on and off and customize their Notifications panel. The upgrade also introduces an 'ink effect' to the lock screen alongside other various, small improvements.

If you have the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE GT-N7105 variant, and can't wait for the OTA update, you can head over to Samsung Updates and download firmware N7105XXDLL1, which was grabbed "as is" from Samsung servers. Firmware N7105XXDLL1 has been offered by Samsung Updates for a while now, but it hasn't been until today that confirmations of Samsung officially rolling out an OTA update have surfaced.

U.S. owners of a carrier-locked Samsung Galaxy Note 2 shouldn't expect Android 4.1.2 anytime soon. Carriers in the United States take notoriously long to release Android upgrades, and we've heard no indication that Android 4.1.2 will land stateside before 2012 is over.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launched worldwide as the first high-profile device to offer Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box. Samsung is said to be working on a Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2 build for Q1 2013.
