The Samsung Galaxy S7 is one of the most-anticipated phones in the Android market today. Therefore, it doesn't come as a surprise when tons of rumors started floating around regarding the Samsung flagship phone.
The latest Samsung Galaxy S7 rumor is that the smartphone will be significantly cheaper than the S6, and that it will be powered by a system-on-a-chip that's faster than Apple's A9 SoC. Meanwhile, the South Korean giant is also reportedly doing its best to make sure that future consumers will not be encountering heating problems with the highly anticipated phone.
According to Computer World, the rumored Samsung Galaxy S7 price will be 10 percent less than what the current S6 costs. The website noted that the decision, if it is true, is an aggressive move from the smartphone leader.
Digit reports that Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang said the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be 10 percent cheaper compared to the S6. Being the topselling smartphone producer in the world, Samsung, which reported a profit growth for the first time in four quarters, apparently want to further increase sales with the cheaper pricing of the Galaxy S7.
The iPhone is doing well in the flagship competition. However, non-flagship phones such as the OnePlus 2 and Honor 7 both feature flagship specs and features at more affordable prices, and Samsung wants to bank on this.
Meanwhile, according to Android Headlines, a Samsung engineer reportedly explained via Weibo that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will indeed use the Snapdragon 820, but without heat issues, as the phone is meant to use "a passive cooling system".
The latest news on the Samsung Galaxy S7's cooling system comes as rumors circulated last week claiming that Samsung is looking for heat pipe suppliers for the S7. Previous rumors, such as the one via Tech Grapple, claimed that Samsung will be using a "custom, overclocked version" of Snapdragon 820, meaning the Galaxy S7 could overheat, similar to Snapdragon 810.
Even though the rumor remains unconfirmed, the Samsung engineer explained that the Samsung Galaxy S7's passive cooling system does not mean that there is an issue with the chipset, even as the operating temperature affects performance. The engineer added that the company simply wants to take extra precautions in making sure the device remains cool to the user's touch.
The South Korean company is reportedly expecting better sales this year with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S7.
Apart from sales, Samsung is also rumored to bring back microSD card slots into their phones to potentially make the S7 the best Android phone in the market.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 release date is expected in January, but the company has made no confirmation. Meanwhile, Samsung has already sent press invites for a CES press conference on January 5.
