Bungie has another holiday treat for "Destiny: The Taken King" gamers.
The video game developer announced during the PlayStation Experience 2015 that Destiny will host its first official Sparrow racing event starting December 8, 2015.
Called the Sparrow Racing League, the new limited-time event will feature new maps, gears, game modes, and, of course, Sparrows.
"The Sparrow Racing League will welcome competitors to participate in a six-player free-for-all death race through enemy territory. After the update goes live on December 8th, visit Amanda Holliday in the Tower. She'll be your Quartermaster for the event. Grab and quest and some bounties. Then, take your mark on the starting line. You might also check in with Tess. Eververse Trading will have some flair to make the event a little more fun, and a little more stylish," Bungie detailed in their community update.
According to the report by Game Rant, the three-week event will reward gamers with exclusive gears and Sparrows, which can only be obtained by participating and winning in it. The gaming news outlet added that the special event will unveil new maps in the Mars and Venus areas, as those are specially designed for Sparrow racing.
The Sparrow Racing League will run until December 29, 2015.
As mentioned in the Game Rant report, "Destiny" gamers have been calling for the event since last year, with many fans even forming community events where they can race with Sparrows and perform tricks with it.
A report by The Verge, on the other hand, cited that the event was inspired by an unofficial event of the same title before Bungie finally integrated it in the game.
The event will be available for both the PlayStation (PS) and Xbox consoles.
Meanwhile, besides the special event, Bungie, together with Sony, have also announced that there will be exclusive events, gears, and other rewards for Destiny gamers on the PS throughout 2016.
In a separate Game Rant report, it was mentioned that new story content, which will unlock new rewards, will be available for the gamers on Sony's console. Even the monthly Iron Banner PvP event will offer exclusive item rewards to the PS gamers.
"Destiny: the Taken King" is already available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The Sparrow Racing Event launches on December 8 until December 29, 2015.
