The Android 6.0 Marshmallow continues, and the latest device reportedly getting the much-awaited Android bump is the HTC One M8.
According to Phone Arena, many HTC One M8 users over in the US are being prompted about the availability of the Android 6.0 M. This coincides with an earlier announcement made by VP Mo Versi, who said that patch is now rolling out but for unlocked versions.
HTC One (M8) unlocked owners! Great news, all testing has been complete and the update for Marshmallow will be sent out within 24 hours. Thx

With that in mind, HTC One M8 owners currently hooked up with mobile carriers may have to wait a bit until their respective carriers formally roll out their Android 6.0 M versions. The usual practice for the ones under contract with mobile carriers is that the patch undergoes testing and eventually needs approval before they are sent out to their subscribers.
HTC thus adds another model getting the much-coveted Android 6.0 M, joining the HTC One A9, which recently debuted with Android 6.0 M already installed.
HTC is one of the companies that have started to roll out the Android 6.0 M. Samsung and Motorola have started out their roll outs as well, prioritizing of course the newer devices via the expected top-down approach.
Though we have mentioned it before, aside from the expected security patches that Android 6.0 M brings, new features to look forward to include that of the Doze App, which is pegged to help improve the battery life of devices.
Other than that, there is the Now on Tap, which aims to help out users for on-screen content, Android Pay and a whole lot more. In addition, it is worth noting that the One M8 is only the second device from HTC to get the Sense interface on top of the Android 6.0 M base.
Although the update has started rolling out for unlocked units, those under contract with mobile carriers are not the only ones not yet getting the latest Android 6.0 M update.
As per GSM Arena, folks over in Europe with the HTC One M8 have yet to get word on the possible availability of the Android 6.0 M bump for their devices, although tipster LlabTooFeR claims that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is believed to be coming out in the following weeks.
Alternatively and for the ones who may have to wait a bit, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has been rolling out as well. Though it is not the newer OS update that folks are eagerly awaiting, applying it is advisable since it does come with important updates and security fixes that can suffice for the meantime.
