Budget consumers wary of the iPhone 5's premium pricing now have an opportunity to strike while the iron is hot and purchase Apple's device for $50 less than suggested retail price at Best Buy.

Those who sign up for a two-year contract with AT&T or Verizon can score a 16GB version of the smartphone for $149.99, a 32GB for $249.99, and a 64GB for $349.99. SlashGear notes that AT&T handsets are only available in Best Buy retail stores, while Verizon subscribers can nab the deal online.

Normally, prospective device owners who sign a two-year contract with Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint will have the option of a 16GB iPhone 5 at $199, a 32GB at $299.99, and a 64GB at $399.99. Unlocked phones sans-contract cost $649, 749, and $849 for each respective size

In other recent iPhone 5 news, T-Mobile will carry the device in 2013, joining Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T on the smartphone. The company plans on kick starting its LTE network next year as well to compete with its rivals on the platform.

The iPhone 5 is feather-light and takes the record for the thinnest smartphone Apple has ever made. The device shows up the iPhone 4S with a 4-inch screen that displays at 1136 x 640 pixels, a brand new A6 chip, and an ultra-thin touch pad that sharpens feedback to user input.

It's unclear how long Best Buy's supplies will last.
