Google could be in the midst of offering something new with reports that the company has recently been granted new patents by the U.S. Patents and Trademark Office.
It seems that the company will be releasing a new version of the famed Google Glass though Tech Crunch mentions it may shy away from the traditional looking glasses. Rather, it will come in the form of a monocle which is something that can be easily worn around a person’s head.
According to the description part of the patent filed, the said device will be used to "receiving, transmitting, and displaying data," just like the OG Google Glass.
The band will reportedly be adjustable which allows users to easily configure it. It will be positioned to contact the head of the user somewhere near his temple. There will also be a second location along a portion of the user’s ear adjacent the temple while and a third location will find it along a rear position of a user’s head.
With the new design, it remains to be seen if the presumed Google Glass 2 can pick off and spur the interest that techies would have for the Google Glass.
Sales for the Google Glass ceased in January of this year as the company needed to temporarily halt production and recalibrate the development and direction for which that device was aimed at.
Months have passed and no word came about on what the Google Glass line would bring though the latest patents do seem to indicate that the company has not totally given up on the said wearable.
With the design seemingly something interesting to follow, it remains to be seen if the company has done the same on the software and other hardware fronts for the almost forgotten Google Glasses.
Apparently the predecessor lacked the needed features that could spur up the interest of folks, not to mention justify its hefty price pegged at $1,500 for consumers.
With the revival, that to could possibly be something worth noting if ever anyone would be interested in getting a pair just in case.
BGR shares an interesting point as well by saying that for the Google Glass to become a hit, the company may want to make it look like a regular pair of glasses.
Based on the illustrations being revealed, it seems that the Google Glass 2 will continue to make people look like Cyclops or a universal soldier-like of look which may not necessarily appeal to people adapting to the wearable technology craze.
