Rumors are circulating that “Kingdom Hearts 3” will begin accepting preorders in December 2015. The action role-playing game is said to launch sometime in 2016 or early in 2017.

Amazon recently featured a list of new video games that will most likely launch in December 2015 on its website, which reportedly includes “Kingdom Hearts 3.” Game developer Square Enix did not yet announce the official release date of the game, but it will be playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. If the Amazon list is real, it might mean that the game will be exclusively available for preorders on Amazon. If preordering begins before the end of 2015, the game will most likely launch in 2016, not 2017, Yibada stated. The pre-order option will be available at a retail price of $59.99 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

The preorder listing also included a note which stated that gamers might most likely receive an email from Amazon, informing them that the game will launch on Jan. 2, 2017. The placeholder launch date for “Kingdom Hearts III” is on Dec. 31, 2016. The next shipping date after the placeholder is on Jan. 1, 2017. Amazon clarified that there is no confirmed release date at present and apologized for the confusion.

The Amazon listing also stated that the game will feature new and familiar worlds based on properties of Disney. It will be the last chapter of the Dark Seeker saga. GamingBolt revealed that Daybreak Town might be the latest iteration of the upcoming series. Pixel Dynamo also reported that there will be a number of new combat mechanics. Lead game designer Yuji Kenichiro shared that there is a gameplay mechanic that allows players to disable enemies by destroying certain body parts. Gamers can use these special attacks against huge monsters. The attach approach will be more strategic as a result.

Earlier in November 2015, Square Enix showcased a number of screenshots from different upcoming “Kingdom Hearts” games. In particular, the screenshot from “Kingdom Hearts 3” showed main characters Sora, Donald and Goofy riding on the Shooting Ride attraction, which closely resembles the Disneyland ride, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride. Some predict that the upcoming game might feature “Toy Story” characters and content.

Square Enix has yet to announce the official release date of “Kingdom Hearts 3.” More updates and details on the preordering option on Amazon are expected in the following weeks.
