Video game publisher Konami has revealed that a secret event can now be triggered by gamers of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," that is, if certain conditions are met.
According to the announcement made in the Konami Japan website, the secret Nuclear Disarmament Event can be started after fulfilling four very specific conditions in which one is the complete dismantling of all nuclear weapons on the regional server corresponding to the players console or platform.
Besides this, other conditions that must be met include completing Mission 31 and dismantling any nukes that are in stock or currently in development. Additionally, the announcement also cited that certain circumstances which are related to "nuclear proliferation" must be fulfilled on the regional server for the gamer's corresponding gaming platform.
Meeting the abovementioned conditions will trigger the secret nuclear disarmament event when the player returns to the Mother Base or after finishing the Main Mission.
Moreover, Konami cited that, if new nukes are developed after the last conditions were fulfilled, player's can repeat the event by completing the four conditions again. However, no specific details about the content of the event have been provided.
As cited by the Polygon report, although the task seems impossible, players should take note that the complete dismantling of nukes is only required on the regional server of various consoles and not across all platforms.
Additionally, Game Rant mentioned that, with information about the nuclear disarmament event swirled a couple of months ago after cutscenes that refers to the event surfaced, many players of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" were seen to be interested leading to a drastic decrease in nuke weapons. Thus, activating the event is no longer farfetched.
Based on the official update in Konami Japan's website, as of Nov. 25, 2015, there are currently 352 weapons on PlayStation (PS) 4, 250 on PS3, 96 on Xbox One, 85 on Xbox 360 and 15,691 on PC. The decreases in the figures are more than 50 percent of the total on the previous Nov. 1, 2015 record.
According to Game Rant, although the task seems to be too "ambitious" for Konami, it is not really impossible as "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" is different among other Triple A title games especially that its game developer Hideo Kojima has the ability to connect to fans and gamers.
