"Red Dead Redemption 2" is rumored to be a prequel, according to Crossmap. The gaming world is getting more exciting as new twists and rumors surface.
The latest "Red Dead Redemption 2" rumors all began from a Reddit user under the handle "AnonDN1978," who theorized that the game's setting could take place twelve years prior to "Red Dead Redemption," according to Motoring Crunch.
Reddit user "AnonDN1978" also assumed that the game could be titled "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West." The Reddit user adds that the lead protagonist, John Marston, in "Red Dead Redemption" may possibly not come back to reprise his role in the next game. This reportedly makes sense since the timeline of "Red Dead Redemption 2" is 12 years prior to the first game. This also means that previous rumors about the game claiming that Jack Marston, the son of John Marston, will be the main protagonist for "Red Dead Redemption 2," aren't accurate since his character would be too young for the setting.
In addition, Reddit user "AnonDN1978" also said that gamers will see three additional players in "Red Dead Redemption 2," with the first two being Irish and Seth. Irish is said to be a Kansas City bank teller while Seth will be an Ireland native who migrated to America. In the game, the two characters would reportedly look for hidden treasure, and in the process they will be meeting in Tumbleweed, Texas. Meanwhile, "AnonDN1978" said the third character, who is to be a gun-for-hire of sorts, will be created by the players
According to Master Herald, "AnonDN1978" was actually the Reddit user who revealed that Rockstar Games had been in the process of working on the title of the game for several years.
It remains unknown how the game's fans would take this recent "Red Dead Redemption 2" prequel rumors. However, previous speculations include other possible plots for the open world Western action-adventure video game.
In one "Red Dead Redemption 2" plot theory, the game could reportedly be set in Japan. This however, is highly unlikely since the game has always opted for Western backgrounds. Meanwhile, others suppose that the Japan setting could still be possible, and that the setting could take place at the Western part of the Asian country, mainly towards the East.
Game developer Rockstar Games will be partnering with game publisher Take-Two Interactive as they launch the franchise games.
Rockstar Games has not confirmed any of the "Red Dead Redemption 2" speculations.
