Samsung is best known for their Android smartphones, but the South Korean electronics manufacturer is also developing a new Windows 8 handset. The smartphone, named the ATIV S, will be Samsung's first Windows 8 device, and Samsung has released two new videos showcasing the handset.
Both videos are hands-on videos officially made by Samsung. One showcases the design and software, while the other shows off the social media and camera features.
Watch both of them below:
The Samsung ATIV S will come equipped with a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Gorilla Glass 2, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. In many ways, the ATIV S will be the Galaxy S3 of Windows smartphones. The smartphone will be the first Samsung smartphone to use the Windows 8 mobile operating system recently seen on Nokia smartphones.
Samsung was expected to release the ATIV S in November, but various delays have kept the device from hitting shelves. Reviewers have already gotten their hands on the phone, so the reason for the delay is still mysterious, although it's most likely hardware issues. Samsung has recently stated that it plans on releasing the handset in a couple different markets by the end of the year. The ATIV S will not make it to the United States, but Samsung and Verizon are releasing a variant named the ATIV Odyssey that will be 4G LTE capable.
