"Resident Evil 6" might just be given a breath of new life.
According to the report by Gematsu, the possibility of the zombie-themed game coming to current generation consoles is very high after the Korean Rating Board rated the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The gaming website pointed that the said organization is no longer new to be involved in such rumors, citing the incident in 2012 where they also leaked information about the HD version of "Resident Evil: Retribution" before it was officially announced, thus, putting some credibility on this new leaked information.
As cited by the report of Game Rant, the release of the game for the aforementioned consoles is not that surprising given the fact that Capcom has promised to prioritize making remasters of their old games -- a strategy that has been proven effective for the company especially on financial terms.
It was also mentioned that since "Resident Evil 6" did not see that much financial success when it was released in 2012 for PS3 and Xbox One and 2013 for PC, releasing the game in the current gen consoles might be a good move that could help revitalize it.
The gaming news outlet highlighted that the game left its signature survival-horror gameplay and instead, focused on being a third-person shooter game which led it to have the lowest critical reception among other games in the franchise.
Meanwhile, the release by GameSpot added that although the voice acting and cut scenes were lauded, the game's "quick-time events," "pacing," and "scripted events" were, nonetheless, executed poorly.
As of present time, no official confirmation has been made by Capcom addressing the leaked information.
"Resident Evil 6," according to GameSpot, is not the first title in the "Resident Evil" franchise to be ported to the current generation consoles as Capcom has previously released for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC the "Resident Evil HD Remastered," a high definition remaster of the 2002 "Resident Evil Remake."
It has also been announced that an HD version of "Resident Evil Zero" will be released both for old and current gen consoles come January 2016 while a remake of "Resident Evil 2" is already in the works. A Wii U version of "Resident Evil 4" has also been released in Europe last October 29.
