'Star Wars Battlefront' Sequels on the Way? Here's Everything We Know So Far!

Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will be receiving multiple sequels of "Star Wars Battlefront." The announcement came after the game's third installment was released just yesterday under new holders of the license, publisher EA.

According to Screen Rant, Swedish studio "DICE," which developed the "Battlefield" series, is the best logical decision when it came to rebooting "Star Wars" Battlefront. The studion brought the game its first multiplayer first-person shooter option, and apaprently, that improvement is only the beginning.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen was at the San Francisco UBS Global Technology Conference yesterday. Apart from his announcement that EA has a 10-year deal with Disney, he added that they will be bringing "Star Wars Battlefront" sequels as well as other "Star Wars" games across numerous platforms.

"Our goal is to make future "Battlefront" games as well as other style games around the "Star Wars" franchise, both on mobile as well as console and PC," Jorgensen said.

"[Battlefront] is a big effort for us, and I don't think there's a human being in the world who hasn't heard of the Star Wars movie coming. And so, [it's a] great opportunity," he added.

With Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm and LucasArts, and a 10-year deal with EA, "Battlefront" has been set to kick off the partnership, being released first. "Star Wars Battlefront" is already pegged to become their top-seller for 2015, especially with the nearing holiday season as well as the release of the first "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in December. The game's content is also set to have a tie-in with the film.

"It's a big effort for us, and I don't think there's a human being in the world who hasn't heard of the Star Wars movie coming. And so, [it's a] great opportunity," Jorgensen said.

"We struck a licensing deal with Disney a few years back that's almost ten years in length. The game that comes out tomorrow, Star Wars Battlefront, is a traditional first-person style shooter game," he added.

Jorgensen's recent statement perhaps is attributed to the fact that EA and DICE know that "Star Wars" sells.

According to Screen Rant, EA's first showcase of "Star Wars Battlefront" isn't the best, with it lacking longevity and depth in content. The website described it as a backwards step from former "Battlefield" series, therefore paling in comparison to the value in "Halo 5: Guardians" and "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3." It is now a hope that "Star Wars Battlefront" sequels would work on that.

"Star Wars Battlefront" is now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. According to Geek, the game's first DLC, "The Battle of Jakku," will have its launch on December 8. The DLC can be accessed on December 1 if you have pre-ordered.
