iPad Air 3 Better Than Microsoft Surface Pro 4? [Specs, Features, Release Date & Rumors]

Right now, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is making waves with no one close really to pose a threat to it at least for now.

Its versatility allows it to be an ideal mate, something that can certainly be considered over the usual tablets or laptops on-the –go consumers would need to carry along. But is it really meant to replace either or both?

True enough, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is packed with lots of features but it does come at a hefty price (starting at $899). But before going nuts over that, the pricing will, of course, depend on the specs one would require.

The cheapest one to get is the Core M model which would include 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The specs vary as you go up of course. There is also the Core i5 and Core i7 which come with varying memory and internal storage options that flex the price.

The highest model you can get for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 would be the one on a Core i7, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage which rounds up to roughly $2,259 when converted using existing rates.

The prices seem to be a bit steep for the device but considering the many uses it offers (and allegedly something that would replace desktops, laptops and tablets) it may be worth considering.

That is the case for now because it doesn’t have any stiff competition coming from Apple though the iPad Pro could be one. But all that could change in 2016 if Apple unveils the iPad Air 3, something that was peculiarly absent from the launched devices last Fall to make way for the iPad Pro.

But do take into consideration that Apple did not say that an iPad Air 3 is not going to happen. And the belief right now is that one could come out in 2016 though it remains to be seen when that will actually happen.

There are murmurs right now that Apple could finally release the iPad Air 3 as early as March 2016. If not, the best bet is Apple’s usual September launch.

For now, leaked specs are the only ones to come by. Aside from reportedly being thinner and sporting a 9.7-inch screen, the iPad Air 3 will rely on an A9X processor paired with possibly 3 to 4 GB of RAM.

As far as pricing is concerned, there could be two storage versions coming out (16 GB and 32 GB) with prices more likely to start at $610 (based on currency rates as of this writing) for the basic edition.

For now it seems pretty hard to tell which of the two is better though the pricing standpoint definitely seems to favor the iPad Air 3.

Hence, it may all boil down to usability and purpose. To date, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 seems to have defined that so the decision on which is the best could come out if (and when) the iPad Air 3 officially hits the market.
