It has been five years since Red Dead Redemption first came out and now rumors are afloat that the second installment could be out by 2016 together with a lot of improvements.
There is now growing belief that the Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the ‘unannounced game projects’ that Take-Two Interactive president Karl Slatoff was hinting at. Take Two Interactive is the owner of Rockstar, the same company behind the Red Dead Redemption franchise.
Other than that, there is also an interesting reveal from a particular Reddit user (AnonDN1978) who claims that Rockstar has been actually hard at work for Red Dead Redemption 2 for about 3 ½ years now and that its working title is ‘Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West’.
The user also added that one character will no longer be around (John Marston) and that the setting of the game will be held 12 years prior to the original Red Dead Redemption game that came out in 2010.
The main characters for the sequel will be Seth and Iris along with one customizable character. The eventual goal of the main characters is to hunt for hidden treasure and the storyline will call for both to cross paths over at Tumbleweed, Texas.
The third person will be a customizable addition, someone users can create on their own. The created character can be used as well on gang mode and be made available as a gun-for-hire.
As far as the game is concerned, there will be a new multiplayer feature as well. This includes seeing players using co-op mode which allows them to form gangs of their own between 4 to 8 players. The game will include a ‘Gang System’ that allows players to recruit AI units which are somehow similar to another sister game title, Grand Theft Auto.
Aside from that, expect a pretty huge map as well.
Rockstar Games is reportedly planning to use nine different states for the sequel. That includes Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Dakota, the Rock Mountain and Mexico which should be a huge coverage that will offer quite a gaming experience.
While the real status of the game’s development is unknown, it looks like Rock Star is looking for more help with word that they are in search for a network programmer as well that specializes in open world game mechanics.
With a potential release in 2016, Red Dead Redemption 2 will likely be made available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC.
