Fans of the "Pokemon" series on the latest Nintendo handheld, Nintendo 3DS, have been waiting for news for the next installment in the series "Pokemon Z" for quite a long time.
News for the game may not be that far away as it has been confirmed that Game Freak director, Junichi Masuda has indicated that he will be appearing on the popular Japanese TV Show "Pokemon Get TV" on Nov. 15, 2015. The announcement was made via Masuda's Twitter account.
The reason that this is big news is because the show has been known for being one of the leading sources for news on anything "Pokemon." Rumors are saying that Masuda will finally be revealing insights on "Pokemon Z."
According to Movieplot, Masuda has been with Game Freak since 1989 and he has produced or directed almost all of the previous "Pokemon" games dating back to Red, Blue, and Yellow. While Game Freak hasn't made any official announcement of Masuda's involvement with "Pokemon Z," it seems at this point a formality since the Japanese director has been involved with pretty much all the games up to this point.
Yibada is reporting that the announcement for the release of both "Pokemon Z" as well as its mobile sibling, "Pokemon Go," will be made on the show and both games are expected for release sometime in February 2016. The main reason for the expected release date is to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
"Pokemon Z" is reported to have the first evolution type Legendary Pokemon in the form of Zygarde. Zygarde is rumored to have four total stages of evolution. The first stage Zygarde will be a spore and will be only at 10 percent of its total power.
Players will then have to keep collecting Zygarde cells so that 30 percent the Pokemon will go into stage 2 and resemble a snake. The third form has been rumored to look like a dog at 50 percent power, and lastly a giant reptile creature.
It is hard to believe that it's already been 20 years since the world first was introduced to "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue" via the Nintendo Gameboy handheld. In those 20 years, the "Pokemon" franchise has gone off to spawn numerous other forms of media.
The most popular of these has to be the long-running "Pokemon" cartoon show which debuted a year after the first games on April 1, 1997, and now is one of the longest running children's shows ever having a count of 900 episodes.
The cartoon also spawned 18 movies, as well as the popular "Pokemon" trading card game which still sees competitive gameplay until now.
