It has just been over half a year since the first generation of Apple Watch was released. However, new rumors surface that the Apple Watch 2 is already in the works and might just hit the market by 2016.
According to the report by G for Games, Chairman Barry Lam of Quanta Computers, the company which manufactures the Apple Watch, has revealed that the Apple Watch 2 is indeed in the works and is set for Q2 release in 2016.
The report mentioned that Lam disclosed the said schedule during an investor's meeting where he also pointed that they are predicting that the smartwatch market will grow and mature by next year. Thus, the production of the next generation Apple Watch, which is promised to perform better than the first one, will take this opportunity to drive sales up.
G for Games also pointed that there are rumors in various media outlets in China that the next generation of Apple Watch will hit the market late in Q2 2016. However, small volumes will be sold by this time and the "volume shipment" of the items will start by the Q3 of 2016.
No other specific details about the new Apple Watch were revealed. However, there have been a lot of rumors and reports about the specifications of the device.
In a release by a South Korean website Naver which was spotted by G for Games, it was reported that there will be no changes in the screen size and resolution of the device. Nonetheless, the report claimed that the device will feature a thinner display in order to give way to a larger battery size to improve the device's battery life.
Furthermore, in the report by 9 to 5 Mac, it was cited that the Apple is planning to integrate a FaceTime Video Camera in Apple Watch 2 that would allow users "make and receive" FaceTime Calls on their wrists.
Additionally, Apple is looking to make the next gen watch more iPhone independent which will enable the Apple Watch 2 users to do more activities without having to connect via Bluetooth in their iPhones.
However, the 9 to 5 Mac report pointed that with further improvements along with new materials used for the device, the upcoming model for the Apple Watch 2 will be more expensive.
As of present time, there is no official release date for Apple Watch 2.
