In the seven months after Samsung released the Galaxy S6, a number of users have since encountered a variety of issues in the handset. While it's expected that no new device comes out perfectly glitch-free, some of these problems may prove to be annoying enough to get one doubting Samsung's reputation or of ever getting another iteration of the same model.

Battery

One of the earliest issues was the phone's battery life. Considering the S6 only has a 2,550mAh battery, it has been predicted by some pundits from the start that the gadget is bound to get a bad rap from quick-drain situations. To counter this unfortunate issue, you can turn off apps or functions that you don't need to sync in the background. Go to Settings and look into Accounts to tweak this aspect.

"Some people report an improvement after switching off VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling," Digital Trends suggested. "It will depend on your carrier whether these are available on your S6, but it's worth checking."

You can also turn off the Smart Network Switch in the Wi-Fi settings, or switch off Always Allow Scanning function.

You can also turn off notifications or wipe out your cache partition to reduce battery consumption.

Finally, tap into the phone's battery saving mode to extend battery life. Do be warned you'll get reduced performance and brightness in return.

Fingerprint Scanner

If you got issues with the fingerprint scanner, Android Authority said that a future update would ultimately resolve what appears to be a "software bug." However, there are workarounds that you can use for the meantime, such as noting the backup password of your fingerprint scanner and using that if your device does not unlock. You can also try entering the password multiple times (10 attempts, so said the site) until you are finally through. Proceed to reset the scanner, taking care to note the new backup password.

"In some cases, even signing in with the Google account has not worked," Android Authority said. "Then visit Samsung Find My Mobile, login with your Samsung account, and click on Locate My Device on the left side menu."

"Once located, the menu on the left will expand with the option to 'Unlock My Screen.' Click on it and when the device unlocks, immediately reset the finger scanner," it added.

Constant Pop Ups

You can turn it off through Contacts, "by tapping on your profile, tapping your name, and turning Profile sharing and Simple sharing off," Digital Trends said.

"You may be able to avoid accepting the terms by tapping Decline and then going into Contacts, tapping your name under My profile, then tap Profile sharing > Registered information," it went on. "Tap More at the top right and select Deregister phone number."

Doing a factory reset also works, but this should be the last resort.
